I’m so excited to announce that Gabi is officially licensed! After years of hard work, thousands of hours of 1:1 therapy with kids under supervision (literally), AND many countless hours of specialized trainings, Gabi has passed her licensure exam with the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers!
At The Real Work, providing you with excellent care with dedicated therapists whose niche is working with children is our priority, and Gabi embodies all of that and more! We are so lucky to have her on our team here in Beaverton, and we all wish her the best and celebrate this milestone!
Meet Gabi Rookard, LCSW
Specializing in Synergetic Play Therapy®, Gabi brings a unique approach to her practice, weaving together the therapeutic powers of play, the science of relationships, and her own developmental journey as a therapist. In the world of play therapy, Gabi draws from various modalities, including Child-Centered Play Therapy, Theraplay, and Sand Tray, tailoring her interventions to meet the specific needs of each child and family.
Beyond the therapy room, Gabi finds joy in the great outdoors, whether she's hiking, camping, or backpacking. In her free time she can also be found drawing or exploring new places through traveling.
When working with Gabi, the focus is on holistic well-being. Together, you'll delve into understanding the intricacies of your nervous system states, recognizing that every behavior is an attempt at regulation, echoing the wisdom of Lisa Dion. Co-regulation becomes a key aspect, guiding you to connect with yourself to foster deeper connections with your child. Building secure attachment is a priority, ensuring that your child develops an internal sense of safety.
Exploring the concept of interoception, often referred to as "the eighth sense," Gabi helps you and your child tune into internal experiences – feelings, sensations, and emotions. The journey involves noticing, exploring, and regulating these internal states.
