About Me: Occupational Therapy with Parent Education and Support

I have been a licensed occupational therapist for over 20 years and have enjoyed working with children in hospitals, clinics and in their homes. I value the use of a relationship and play based occupational therapy approach to serve a variety of kids who may have challenges related to sensory processing, developmental delay, emotional and self regulation, functional use of hands for writing/drawing, feeding, ASD, and ADHD.

My goal in occupational therapy is to enhance a child’s ability to fully participate in their everyday activities and routines.  A child’s occupations may include things like brushing teeth, going on family outings, eating meals at the table, managing a school day, completing homework, and engaging in social and recreational play. Some children experience specific challenges that are roadblocks to accomplishing typical daily tasks.  In O.T. sessions, I strive to make therapy feel dynamic and fun while also creating tailored therapeutic activities that will target change and skill development.

When not working, I love to do almost anything outdoors and I am very active.  When I can get my 2 grown sons home, my husband and I love to spend time with them while hiking, biking, climbing, and skiing. I enjoy cooking good food, walking my sweet dog, and puttering in my garden.

Occupational Therapy with Mary is joyful and play-based!

I believe that kids have an innate drive for joyful play, and I use playfulness to engage kids in meaningful work and to monitor their progress.  I enjoy sharing progress and outcomes with parents because they are their child’s best and most important teachers. I am always eager to ensure that parents gain an understanding of our O.T. sessions, and am always happy to offer suggestions and education.
