About Me

Hi there, and welcome! I’m Amber — a therapist passionate about walking alongside families on their unique journeys.

I specialize in play therapy, where I use the natural language of play to help children express big feelings, navigate challenges, and feel truly seen and safe. It’s a gentle, engaging approach that meets kids right where they are. As a certified AutPlay provider, I bring a playful, supportive, and affirming approach to working with neurodivergent children and their families.

I also work closely with tweens and teens, using a strengths-based lens to highlight what makes each young person resilient and capable. My approach is both trauma-informed and neuroaffirming, which means I honor each individual’s lived experience and the beautiful diversity of how our brains work.

I believe that parents and caregivers are an essential part of the healing and growth process. That’s why I offer thoughtful, compassionate support to help you feel more confident and connected, especially in life’s more stressful moments.

In addition to my clinical work, I teach interpersonal neurobiology at a local graduate program — a field that deeply informs my practice and reflects my belief in the power of connection, integration, and compassionate understanding.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me knee-deep in a DIY home project, tending to an ever-growing collection of houseplants, or heading to the coast with my family for a day of boogieboarding and surfing.

I’m so glad you’re here.

When you work with me, we will focus on:

  •  Providing space for your child to process, grow, and heal through play therapy, sandtray, bibliotherapy, and expressive art elements.

  • Providing space for your tween/teen to process, grow, and heal through strength-based and solution-focused interventions that support increased feelings of self-worth, hopefulness, and improved relationship with self and others.

  • Adding tools to your toolbox to support you as parent/caregiver through building feelings of empowerment and curiosity, decreasing feelings of helplessness and overwhelm, improving attachment and relationship patterns, and providing psychoeducation around interpersonal neurobiology and human development.

Therapy With Amber is…

…a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming space where your child or teen can safely explore emotions, memories, and challenges in ways that honor their developmental stage and your family’s unique goals.

I deeply believe that parents and caregivers are some of the most powerful agents of change in a child’s life. That’s why our work together will include supportive, collaborative elements designed to strengthen your connection, build confidence, and bring more clarity and hope into your relationship.

Let’s work together to create meaningful, lasting change — for your child, and for your whole family.

Why Play Therapy?

Check out the Association for Play Therapy’s fun illustration of why we use Play Therapy rather than Talk Therapy with children!

Play is the child’s natural form for self-expression (see Garry Landreth’s work). As adults, we may see a therapist to talk through our difficulties. It’s often hard for us grownups to put our feelings into words, and it’s even more difficult for children!

Being human can be really hard sometimes — and therapy offers a space for healing, reflection, and support. As a parent or caregiver, you deserve to feel heard, understood, and supported as you navigate the many responsibilities and emotions that come with caring for your child. And your child deserves the same — a space where they can feel seen, valued, and safe to be themselves.

It would be an honor to walk alongside your family during this season, offering support, connection, and hope in the midst of the hard.
